Birth Time Rectification Using KP

Birth time rectification is the process of correcting an uncertain or inaccurate birth time using the patterns observed in a person's life events. In KP, this is done scientifically: the Ascendant degree (and its sub lord) must be consistent with all confirmed life events.

KP's sub lord theory makes rectification more precise than other systems. Because the Ascendant changes its cusp sub lord every few minutes, even a small shift in birth time changes the sub lord — and that sub lord either matches or contradicts the native's life events.

Why Rectification Is Needed

Recorded Time vs True Time

Hospital clocks, family memory, certificates — all can be off by 5–30 minutes. A birth certificate may record the time of the first cry, last contraction, cutting of the umbilical cord, or entry into the record — all different moments.

Ascendant Sensitivity

The Ascendant degree changes by approximately 1° every 4 minutes. In KP, the sub of the Ascendant can change in under 10 minutes. Even a 5-minute error can shift the sub lord and invalidate the chart.

House Cusps Integrity

All 12 house cusps depend on the Ascendant. A wrong birth time means wrong cusps, wrong sub lords, and incorrect predictions. Rectification restores integrity to the entire chart.

Life Events Used for Rectification

The KP test: does the cusp sub lord of the relevant house signify the houses of the event AND does the event fall in the dasha–bhukti period of those house significators?
