Timing Events in KP

KP provides a systematic protocol for pinpointing the exact Dasha–Bhukti–Antara period in which a promised event will manifest. The method proceeds from the broadest time window (the Dasha, spanning years) down to the narrowest (the Antara and transit day, spanning weeks or even days).

Step-by-Step Timing Protocol

1
Confirm the Promise

Check the cusp sub lord of the primary house. It must signify the relevant houses. Without a confirmed promise, skip timing analysis.

2
List Significators

Compile significators of all relevant houses (primary + supporting). Eliminate weak duplicates. Keep planets that are both significators AND Ruling Planets as top candidates.

3
Match Dasha Lord

Find the currently running dasha or the next upcoming dashas. The dasha lord must be in the significator list. If not, move to the next dasha in sequence.

4
Match Bhukti Lord

Within the qualifying dasha, find the bhukti whose lord is also in the significator list. Prefer bhuktis whose lords are Ruling Planets. This bhukti is the event window (months).

5
Match Antara Lord

Within the qualifying bhukti, find the antara lord that is a significator and, ideally, a Ruling Planet. This narrows the window to a few weeks.

6
Confirm with Transit

On the event day, the transiting Moon should be in the constellation of a significator. The day lord should be a Ruling Planet. The exact date is when Moon transits through a star of the event significators.

Worked Example: Job Change

Relevant houses: 6 (employment), 2, 10, 11 (gains/career).

Confirmed promise: 6th cusp sub lord is Mars, placed in 10th house and star of Saturn (2nd & 11th lord) → confirmed job promise.

Significators found: Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Moon, Mercury.

Currently running: Saturn dasha / Venus bhukti. Saturn is a significator. Venus is NOT in the significator list → this bhukti does not give a job change.

Next bhukti: Saturn dasha / Sun bhukti. Sun — is it a significator? If Sun aspects 6th or 10th or is in a star of Mars/Saturn, then yes.

Antara: Within Saturn/Sun period, find the antara of Mars, Jupiter, or Mercury. The one that is also a Ruling Planet at the time of judgment is the trigger.

Important Notes

  • It is rare for all three — dasha, bhukti, antara lords — to be listed as significators at the same time. When they are, the event is imminent and certain.
  • If only the dasha and bhukti lords are significators but the antara is not, the event is delayed to the next suitable antara within the same bhukti.
  • Transit of Moon through the nakshatra of a prime significator during the antara period is the most precise trigger available in KP.
  • For horary queries, the same protocol applies, except all analysis is done from the horary chart (not the natal chart).
