KP Horary (Prashna)
KP Horary (also called Prashna in Sanskrit) is the branch of KP astrology dedicated to answering specific questions without requiring the querent's birth chart. Instead, the querent is asked to give a number between 1 and 249 at the moment of asking. This number corresponds to a specific sub in the KP zodiac and becomes the Ascendant of the horary chart.
KP horary is considered one of the most systematic and accurate Prashna systems in Jyotish because every answer is traced through the sub lord hierarchy, giving a binary yes/no decision backed by house significations rather than intuition.
How KP Horary Works
Any number from 1 to 249 is mentally selected by the querent and given to the astrologer.
The number is looked up in the KP table of 249 subs. The starting degree of that sub becomes the horary Ascendant.
Using the Ascendant degree, the astrologer computes all 12 house cusps (Placidus) and plots all planets at the time and place of the query.
The sub lords of the relevant house cusps are examined. The primary house sub lord gives the verdict; Ruling Planets confirm it.
No Birth Time Required
The querent does not need to know their exact birth time. The moment the number is given is treated as the "birth" of the query.
Quick and Focused
A horary chart answers a specific, focused question — there is no need to analyse the entire natal chart. The astrologer zooms in on the relevant houses only.
Highly Accurate
KP horary is considered more precise for specific event timing than most other Prashna systems because the sub lord narrows the answer to a binary: yes or no, and soon or late.
Self-Validating
Ruling Planets provide an internal cross-check. If the significators of the queried house match the Ruling Planets, the chart is confirmed as valid for the query.
