Naabhasa Yogas

Naabhasa Yogas (नाभस योग) are classified celestial combinations based on the arrangement of planets in a birth chart. "Naabhasa" refers to the celestial sphere, and these yogas are determined by how the seven planets (excluding Rahu and Ketu in most interpretations) are distributed among the twelve signs.

Unlike other yogas whose results may be felt primarily during the dasas of the planets involved, the results of Naabhasa Yogas are felt throughout life in all dasas. These yogas are divided into four main categories: Aasraya (3), Dala (2), Aakriti (20), and Sankhya (7).

Aasraya Yogas

Aasraya means "dwelling" or "asylum." These yogas are based on the signs occupied by planets. They are formed when all planets are exclusively in one type of sign: movable, fixed, or dual.

Aakriti Yogas

Aakriti means "shape," and these yogas are based on the shape of the arrangement of planets in a chart. There are 20 such yogas, including Gadaa, Sakata, Vihangama, Sringaataka, Hala, Vajra, Yava, Kamala, and others.

When analyzing Naabhasa Yogas in a chart, it's important to remember that:

  • Only one Naabhasa Yoga can be present in a chart
  • The order of precedence is: Aasraya, Dala, Aakriti, and then Sankhya
  • The results of these yogas are felt throughout life, not just during specific planetary periods
  • In modern interpretations, the results should be adapted to contemporary life circumstances

These yogas provide valuable insights into the overall pattern of a native's life and can help astrologers understand the general direction and quality of life experiences that a person may encounter.
